Circa Lighting Flush Mount Ceiling Fixtures | Generation Lighting
Our circa lighting flush mount collection brings clean-lined elegance to low-clearance spaces where pendants won’t work. Each fixture sits directly against the ceiling, delivering even ambient light through frosted glass or fabric drum shades that soften glare. We engineered these mounts for universal compatibility — standard junction boxes, wet-location ratings where needed, and dimmable LED lamping that cuts energy costs by seventy percent compared to incandescent. Ideal for hallways, closets, powder rooms, and bedrooms where you need overhead illumination without sacrificing headroom.

We build every circa lighting flush mount on a cold-rolled steel chassis, powder-coated in our Pennsylvania facility to resist chips and corrosion. The diffuser assembly locks into place with spring clips rather than exposed screws, so you see a seamless perimeter when you look up. Frosted glass options use tempered soda-lime that tolerates the heat from legacy incandescent lamps if you choose retrofit sockets, though we ship LED modules standard. Fabric drum shades employ flame-retardant linen stretched over steel wire rings — hand-sewn hems prevent fraying even in humid climates.

Sizing & Light Output
Diameter matters more than you’d think. Our twelve-inch model delivers eight hundred lumens — enough for a five-by-seven powder room or walk-in closet. Step up to fifteen inches for entryways and guest bedrooms; that fixture pushes fourteen hundred lumens across a ten-by-twelve footprint. The eighteen-inch version is our workhorse for primary bedrooms and laundry rooms, offering two thousand lumens with edge-to-edge diffusion that eliminates hot spots.
Ceiling height changes the equation too. If your room has eight-foot ceilings, any diameter works. Once you cross nine feet, the inverse-square law starts working against you — light intensity drops fast with distance — so we recommend the fifteen- or eighteen-inch fixture to maintain adequate foot-candles at floor level. The same principle applies when choosing between our opal-white diffuser (maximum transmission) and the linen drum shade (softer glow, twenty percent lower output).

Installation & Wiring
Mounting the Canopy
You’ll need a standard four-inch round or octagon electrical box rated for ceiling fixtures — our crossbar fits both. The circa flush mount weighs between three and six pounds depending on diameter, well within the fifty-pound threshold for retrofit boxes. Align the crossbar’s threaded studs with the box holes, then hand-tighten the lock nuts while a helper holds the canopy in place. If you’re working solo, thread the ground wire first as a temporary hanger.
Connecting Power
Our quick-connect harness has three leads: black (line), white (neutral), and bare copper (ground). Match them to your house wiring, push each pair into the spring-loaded connector until you hear a click, then tuck the block into the junction box before seating the canopy. No wire nuts, no electrical tape. The Visual Comfort flush mount ceiling light series uses an identical harness if you’re installing multiple fixtures on the same circuit — consistency speeds up the job. Once the canopy is snug against the ceiling, attach the diffuser or shade with the included clips, restore power at the breaker, and test your dimmer sweep from zero to full brightness.

Common Questions About Circa Lighting Flush Mounts
Our standard circa flush mount requires a flat ceiling surface for proper canopy seating and safe electrical connection. If your ceiling slopes more than fifteen degrees, you’ll need an adapter plate to create a level mounting plane — these are sold separately and add about three-quarters of an inch to the overall drop. Alternatively, consider our semi-flush mount line, which includes a downrod that can be angle-cut to match slopes up to forty-five degrees.
A flush mount sits directly against the ceiling with zero gap — the canopy is the highest point. A semi-flush hangs down four to twelve inches on a short stem or chain, creating a small gap between the canopy and the shade. Flush mounts work best in low-clearance areas like hallways and closets, while semi-flush fixtures add visual interest in rooms with eight-foot-plus ceilings where you have space to spare.
Yes, our integrated LED drivers are compatible with electronic low-voltage dimmers including Lutron Caseta, Leviton Decora Smart, and most Wi-Fi enabled controls. Confirm your dimmer is rated for LED loads — older TRIAC dimmers designed for incandescent bulbs may cause flicker at the low end of the range. If you experience issues, Lutron’s PD-6WCL or equivalent models provide the smoothest performance with our fixtures.
A quick rule: add your room’s length and width in feet, then convert that sum to inches for your minimum fixture diameter. For a ten-by-twelve bedroom (twenty-two feet total), look at an eighteen-inch or larger flush mount. Smaller rooms like a five-by-seven powder room (twelve feet total) work fine with our twelve-inch model. This ensures the fixture feels proportional and delivers adequate light coverage.
Absolutely. The LED array is a plug-and-play module secured by two Phillips-head screws. Power off the circuit, remove the diffuser, unscrew the module, unplug the connector, then reverse the steps with the new part. The entire swap takes ten minutes and requires no rewiring. Replacement modules are available through our website or authorized dealers — just match your fixture’s SKU and finish code.
Models with a wet-location UL rating can be installed under covered outdoor areas where they’re protected from direct rain. Check the specification label inside the canopy — it will state either Damp or Wet. Wet-rated fixtures have sealed gaskets around the electrical compartment and can handle occasional water exposure. Damp-rated versions are for indoor use or fully protected exterior soffits only.
We ship all circa flush mounts with 3000K warm-white LEDs as standard — that’s the sweet spot for bedrooms, living rooms, and dining areas where you want a cozy, inviting glow. If you’re lighting a kitchen, laundry room, or garage workshop, consider upgrading to our 4000K neutral-white option for better task visibility and color accuracy. The 4000K modules are available at checkout for a small upcharge.
