Belton One Light Mini Pendant | Generation Lighting
Our Belton mini pendant captures the warmth of early industrial design with a hand-blown seeded glass shade that diffuses light beautifully across any space. The single Edison-style socket accommodates dimmable vintage filament bulbs, letting you dial in the exact ambiance you want over kitchen islands, breakfast nooks, or home bar counters.

The seeded glass on the Belton pendant scatters light in soft, overlapping patterns rather than casting harsh downward beams. Tiny air bubbles trapped during the hand-blown process refract light at hundreds of angles, creating ambient fill that reduces eye strain in task areas.

Painted Aged Brass finish and patina development
Our Painted Aged Brass isn’t a plated surface—it’s a multi-layer hand-applied finish that starts with a brass-tone base coat, followed by controlled oxidation, then sealed with a low-sheen topcoat. This process gives the Belton a warm honey-bronze appearance straight out of the box.
Over the first six months, the finish will darken slightly in areas exposed to heat from the bulb, concentrating patina near the socket cup. Humidity accelerates this—we see faster aging in coastal homes and slower shifts in arid climates. The finish will not flake or peel, but it will show fingerprints if you handle the metal fittings during bulb changes. A microfiber cloth removes smudges without disturbing the patina.

Installation requirements and ceiling compatibility
Electrical box and mounting
The Belton mounts to any standard 4-inch round or octagonal junction box rated for at least 5 pounds. We include a crossbar, two mounting screws, and wire nuts in the hardware pack. Black wire connects to black (hot), white to white (neutral), and bare copper to the ground screw on the crossbar.
Hang height adjustment
The downrod ships in three segments: 6 inches, 12 inches, and 36 inches, plus a 4-inch threaded nipple. Combine segments to reach your target height, threading the lamp cord through each piece before final assembly. For 8-foot ceilings, we recommend a 10-inch total drop so the bottom of the shade hangs 30 inches above a countertop. For vaulted or sloped ceilings up to 45 degrees, the included canopy has an angled adapter plate that keeps the pendant plumb.

Common questions about the Belton mini pendant
The Belton carries a damp location rating, so you can install it in covered outdoor areas where it won’t be exposed to direct rain or sprinkler spray. Make sure the bulb you choose also has a damp or wet rating—not all LED filament bulbs do.
For fully exposed exterior locations, we recommend our Harbor Point collection, which is wet-rated and uses sealed glass gasketing that keeps moisture out of the socket.
The downrod ships in three segments: 6 inches, 12 inches, and 36 inches, plus a 4-inch threaded nipple. To shorten the pendant, remove the canopy and unthread the segments you don’t need, then re-thread the lamp cord through the remaining rod pieces.
The minimum hang height is 10 inches total (using just the 6-inch segment and the nipple). For tighter clearance, you’ll need to order our flush-mount conversion kit separately, which replaces the downrod with a low-profile canopy adapter.
No polishing or sealing is required. The finish is already sealed at the factory with a clear topcoat. To clean, wipe metal components with a slightly damp microfiber cloth—avoid ammonia-based glass cleaners, citrus solvents, or abrasive pads, as these can strip the topcoat and cause green oxidation.
The finish will naturally darken over time near heat sources like the bulb socket. This is intentional and adds to the aged character of the piece.
Seeded glass contains tiny air bubbles trapped during the hand-blown manufacturing process. These bubbles refract and scatter light in multiple directions, creating softer, more ambient illumination compared to clear glass, which produces sharper shadows and more focused downlight.
Seeded glass also hides dust and minor imperfections better than clear glass, so the shade looks cleaner between deep cleanings. The trade-off is slightly less light output—seeded glass reduces lumen transmission by about 8 to 12 percent compared to perfectly clear glass.
Yes. The canopy includes an angled adapter plate that works with slopes up to 45 degrees. The adapter mounts to your junction box first, then the canopy cover threads onto the adapter, keeping the downrod and pendant hanging straight even though the ceiling is angled.
For slopes steeper than 45 degrees, you’ll need a universal sloped ceiling adapter, which is sold separately and compatible with most Generation Lighting pendants.
The Belton weighs 3.2 pounds fully assembled with the glass shade attached. Any standard 4-inch round or octagonal electrical junction box rated for ceiling fan support (typically 35 pounds minimum) will handle the load with no problem.
If you’re installing into an old work (retrofit) ceiling box, make sure it’s a fan-rated box secured to a ceiling joist or cross brace—plastic nail-on boxes without bracing support are not adequate for pendant fixtures.
We recommend 2200K to 2700K (warm white) LED filament bulbs for the most authentic vintage look. The seeded glass has a slight amber tint, so cooler bulbs in the 3000K to 4000K range can look greenish or clinical once filtered through the glass.
If you prefer a neutral white for task lighting, choose a 2700K bulb with high CRI (90 or above). The higher color rendering index compensates for the glass tint and keeps colors looking natural.
