Why it works
Classic Coach Lantern Design

The Sevier draws inspiration from traditional carriage lights while streamlining proportions for contemporary homes. We chose clear seeded glass rather than smooth panels because the subtle texture softens LED bulbs and creates inviting ambient light on your exterior walls.

Weather-Resistant Construction
The details

Weather-Resistant Construction

Powder-Coated Finish

Our factory applies a multi-stage powder coating that bonds to the metal frame at high temperature. This finish resists chipping, fading, and corrosion far better than traditional spray paint, maintaining its appearance through years of sun exposure and temperature swings.

Wet-Location Rating

The Sevier carries a UL wet-location rating when installed under an overhang or porch roof. The gasket-sealed backplate keeps moisture out of the electrical box, while the open bottom prevents water accumulation inside the glass enclosure. We recommend a minimum 12-inch overhang for optimal weather protection in heavy rain climates.

Installation & Bulb Compatibility
The details

Installation & Bulb Compatibility

The Sevier mounts to any standard rectangular outdoor electrical box using the included crossbar and screws. The backplate covers boxes up to 4 inches wide, and we provide both machine screws for metal boxes and wood screws for retrofit installations.

Bulb Options

Use any medium-base bulb up to 100 watts incandescent or the LED equivalent. We recommend 800-1000 lumen LED bulbs in 2700K warm white for welcoming entryway light. Filament-style LED bulbs look particularly attractive through the seeded glass, mimicking vintage Edison bulbs without the energy waste. The generous socket clearance accommodates bulbs up to 5 inches tall.

Perfect vintage look with modern quality
I wanted lanterns that looked like they’ve been on the house for decades but wouldn’t rust in two years. These are exactly that. The seeded glass softens the LED bulbs I used and the powder coat finish feels way sturdier than my old painted fixtures.

Great light output for entryway security
We installed these on either side of our front door with 100-watt equivalent LEDs. They put out plenty of light for the whole porch and look elegant, not industrial. Installation took maybe 20 minutes per fixture.

Solid construction
I’m an electrician and I appreciate how well these are made. The backplate is thick metal with a good gasket, and the glass panels are secured properly. I’ve installed hundreds of outdoor fixtures and these are better quality than most at this price point.

Beautiful but needs an overhang
These look amazing and the quality is excellent. Just know they’re rated for wet locations only when under cover. We have a deep porch so no problem, but if you’re mounting on an exposed wall you’ll want a different fixture.

Exactly what our farmhouse needed
We were renovating a 1920s farmhouse and wanted period-appropriate lighting that didn’t look too fussy. The Sevier hits the perfect balance of classic and simple. I love the rectangular shape instead of round.

Easy bulb changes
The open bottom is genius. I can twist out a bulb in five seconds without tools or removing anything. My old lanterns required unscrewing the entire glass panel every time. This small detail makes a huge difference.

Your Questions About the Sevier Wall Lantern

The Sevier features a rectangular coach house silhouette with clear seeded glass and an open bottom. It’s sized at 15 inches tall, making it ideal for standard residential entryways.

Other models in our collection offer different styles: hexagonal traditional designs, cylindrical farmhouse sconces, or integrated LED options. The Sevier specifically targets homeowners who want classic proportions with user-replaceable bulbs and maximum light output.

The Sevier carries a wet-location rating only when installed under a porch roof, eave, or overhang with at least 12 inches of coverage. The open-bottom design allows rain drainage but isn’t sealed for direct exposure to driving rain.

If you need a fixture for a fully exposed wall, look for models specifically rated for wet locations without qualification. Our customer service team can recommend appropriate alternatives for unprotected installations.

We recommend 800 to 1000 lumen LED bulbs in 2700K warm white for the best balance of brightness and ambiance. That’s roughly equivalent to a 60-75 watt incandescent.

The socket accommodates bulbs up to 5 inches tall and 100 watts maximum. Filament-style LED bulbs create an attractive vintage look through the seeded glass. Avoid cool white bulbs above 3000K, which look harsh in residential outdoor settings.

The fixture extends 7.5 inches from the wall to the front of the glass panels. This provides clearance for most siding profiles including lap siding, board-and-batten, and stucco.

The backplate measures 4.5 inches wide by 9 inches high and mounts flush to the wall surface. If you have unusually thick trim or stone veneer, measure your wall profile before ordering to ensure adequate clearance.

The Sevier is currently offered in Black, Antique Bronze, and Brushed Nickel finishes. Each uses the same durable powder-coated construction.

Black is our most popular choice for modern farmhouse and contemporary homes. Antique Bronze complements traditional and Colonial architecture. Brushed Nickel works well with cooler color palettes and coastal settings.

Each Sevier lantern includes the complete fixture, mounting backplate, universal crossbar, mounting screws for both metal and wood electrical boxes, wire connectors, and detailed installation instructions.

You’ll need to supply your own bulb and standard electrician’s tools: wire strippers, screwdriver, and voltage tester. The fixture arrives fully assembled except for the final wall mounting, which takes about 20 minutes per lantern.

If you’re comfortable working with household electrical wiring and your local code permits homeowner installation, the Sevier is straightforward to mount. The installation follows standard outdoor fixture procedures: turn off power at the breaker, connect matching wires, secure the backplate, and restore power.

If your electrical box is damaged, undersized, or improperly sealed, hire a licensed electrician to bring it up to code first. Proper weatherproof electrical box installation is critical for outdoor fixture safety and longevity.
